Patient and Visitors’ Center
Patient Safety
Our hospital considers our patients’ safety a priority. Every member of our medical staff and every employee is concerned about improved performance for the safest environment possible. We are committed to providing you with a safe, healthy and secure environment by training our employees, improving technology, responding to your needs in a timely manner and communicating with you and your family about your needs and treatment.
We want to know if you feel that patient safety has been compromised in any way. You can notify your nurse, our director of patient affairs, or simply indicate your concerns on your patient satisfaction survey that you will receive in the mail.
Here area ways you can help ensure a safe environment:
- A call button is attached to your bed so that you may summon help when you need it. Do not hesitate to use it.
- Side rails are attached to each bed. Do not attempt to lower them without assistance.
- Personal televisions, radios and other electrical appliances need to be examined and cleared by the hospital’s plant operations personnel for compliance with hospital safety standards.
- Do not attempt to get into or out of a wheelchair without assistance.
- Place the bed in the lowest position when getting in or out of bed.
- Always wear shoes or slippers with nonskid soles when walking.
- Report any spills, anything blocking your walkway or unstable furniture immediately.
- If you are unable to get out of bed, have items such as nurse call light, telephone, bedside table, water, eye glasses, etc., close at hand.
- Avoid leaning on the bedside table. The table rolls and will not support any weight.
- Please be careful with contact lenses, glasses, dentures and hearing aids. When not in use, these items are best kept in protective cases and stored in your bedside table. Please do not leave these items or other personal belongings wrapped in tissue on your meal tray. This frequently results in loss.
