The Center for Women’s Health at King’s Daughters Hospital

Welcome image

Welcome to the Center for Women’s Health at King’s Daughters Hospital. Designed to stay true to our mission of providing personalized health care in a professional environment, The Center for Women’s Health gives women of all ages a beautiful, modern place to receive heartfelt, specialized medical care.

Obstetrics (OB)
For the expectant mother, the center features comfortable, home like labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum (LDRP) rooms. Welcome OB imageAll stages of childbirth occur in the private LDRP room. This greatly benefits the expectant mother who can remain in the same room throughout the birth and her entire visit. Families are encouraged to be a part of the whole experience if the mother so desires.

The center also features several labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) rooms, the traditional delivery room and a cesarean section room. Mothers who deliver infants in these rooms will return to a comfortable, private postpartum room for the remainder of their stay.

All labor patients will benefit from the most recent patient safety technology. For example, labor patients benefit from central monitoring that allows vital signs to be monitored from the nurses’ station.

Two types of nurseries, a newborn nursery for healthy babies born at full-term as well as a continuing care nursery, are centrally located in the Center. The latter will benefit babies that need extra attention after delivery, such as help gaining weight, respiratory monitoring or jaundice treatment prior to going home.

The Center for Women’s Health features the latest technology in newborn security. A child watch system allows for optimal infant security by alerting staff and securing exits when an infant is transported inappropriately.

Gynecology
Separate from the obstetrics area, soft, feminine tones accent beautifully decorated rooms designed with the gynecology patient in mind. All patient rooms are private and are available for women recovering from gynecologic procedures.

Education
Education is a key element of women’s health. A large classroom is located in the Center and is used for various health-related educational programs for women and men. Attending classes on topics, such as childbirth, breastfeeding, sibling support, incontinence and more, located in the Center will help familiarize future patients and their families with the Center thus reducing anxiety prior to hospitalization.
